School..

So here it is almost the end of January. Eva started school, Viv and I are getting lots of QT and lots of exercise going to and from the school two times a day, and baby boy is growing.

Eva's first week consisted of half days since she's a new kid in order to get her settled. Even though she knew this because we told her several times beforehand, she lost it when she saw me there to pick her up. I can't lie, her little face haunts me from that day. She came up to me, almost mad looking but more like stoic, I gave her a hug and said "hi!" She looked right in my face, with the skin around her eyes getting red. I instantly thought "oh no. It didn't go well. What are we going to do?" But. I just said "what's wrong?" And she burst into tears telling me it was unfair I was picking her up to go home when no one else had to and she just wanted to stay. Whew! I mean, I didn't really think that she wouldn't like it... She's been so bored since we got here and loves school, but I was panicked just for a second. She (eventually... I was starting to bust out the "this is ridiculous, Eva. You knew you would have to leave early) got it together and of course, because she's a rock star, the rest of the week was no problem. Now she's in regular schedule of 8:30 to 3:25 and I think it's a long day. Not that she can't handle it, but since it's pre-k, it's still a lot of playtime. I feel like they could get what they need accomplished in half a day. Plus, I miss her. I was ready for all day stuff in August for kindergarten, not now.

This is when I spotted her for first day of pickup. She's coming over to me with those sad eyes.

However. The upside? Besides of course some one on one with my Viv, I've been able to meet other parents. There's one other set of U.S. parents in her class, but by chance I met a fellow Pittsburgher (originally from Eighty Four no less) who has been really awesome at answering questions and introducing me. I don't mean to make it sound like I only want to know other Americans, it's just that right now, it's what I need. So, I've met about 6 other American parents besides her and the ones in Eva's class. I didn't have any expectations about meeting people when we moved here, but I will admit, it's made things easier knowing there's people in my same situation pretty close.

Vivi is getting really good at colors, some shapes, and the abc song. Her other big achievement? Potty training! She is doing really really well (knock on wood) and even with pooping. We accidentally took her to the movies in panties which she dropped a deuce in, but since then has been great at
exclaiming "poop!", dropping her drawers, then waddling to the potty with her cute little cheeks hanging out, and doing her business. Is that weird? That I think 2 year old butt cheeks are adorable? I feel like it sounds creepy, but I dare you not to giggle when you see them waddling around.

Kept Eva home from school today as we are all sick but I think she's gotten the worst of it. Now I'm being requested for snuggles so I'm out. Later gators.
